Marcus Freeman and company strike again! The Irish have just landed a commitment from 4 Star Safety JaDon Blair. JaDon is now the 22nd commit in the 2025 class, and the 4th safety. JaDon stands at 6'4, 190lbs, and ranks as the 160th player in the entire class according to 247 Sports Composite Score. Safety is a position that the Irish have been thin at for the past couple years, so landing a player the caliber of Blair is huge, especially with the commitment of Ivan Taylor coming into question recently coming off of a visit to Alabama. JaDon will give some much needed, talented depth at the back end of the secondary for the Irish moving forward.

I took a look at some of JaDon's film from his junior season and I am impressed both with his current talent and potential once he gets into ND's program. Let's take a look at some of my notes.

My Film Notes:

  • Blair is long and athletic. His frame reminds me a lot of Kyle Hamilton, not to say he is on that kind of level, but it helps to have that physical foundation to work with moving forward.

  • JaDon has great range, decisiveness, and is not afraid to meet the ball carrier head on with great physicality. JaDon can get a little high on his tackles at times, something that can easily be fixed at the next level, but his willingness to play hard nose football is a big plus.

  • In the passing game, JaDon's length, range and ball instincts are a great asset. There were not many pass attempts made on him this past season, but he did have a game winning interception and pulled in 4 TD catches at receiver. I'd like to see more film on him in coverage but his frame and speed should allow him a little room for error with his technique. However, if his technique is as good as his ability at the next level, he has the opportunity to be the next great safety at Notre Dame.

This is a huge win for an Irish team that continues to kill it on the recruiting trail and build on a top 5 2025 class. This is not the Brian Kelly era of recruiting. The players being brought in are long, athletic, and flat out better than what we have seen in the past. If Marcus Freeman and company can continue this momentum, Notre Dame is not going to be short on talent in the coming years. This is what elite recruiting looks like. Next for Freeman is the most important part, having it translate to big wins on the field. The good news is the Irish are on schedule to make that dream a reality. And it is all thanks to the incredibly impressive recruiting job this entire coaching staff has done. Something special is brewing in South Bend for the first time in a long time.
