The matchup was originally scheduled for the 2020 season but was rescheduled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The game will be broadcast on NBC and Peacock as a Sunday matchup, presumably before NBC’s weekly Sunday Night Football broadcast.

It will be the third time a college football game has been played at the Green Bay Packers’ home venue, a first for the Irish and the second for the Badgers. It will also mark the second time Notre Dame faces Wisconsin in the Shamrock Series, after defeating the Badgers 41–13 in 2021 at Soldier Field in Chicago, Illinois.
