Igwebuike, a consensus four-star recruit, chose Notre Dame over Indiana, Clemson, Missouri, and Tennessee. The 6-3, 225-pounder ranks as the #134 overall prospect, #10 LB, and #7 player in Illinois in the class of 2027, per Rivals Industry.
The Chicago native attends Mount Carmel High School, where he helped the program to its fourth consecutive State Championship last season. On the way to getting his ring, Igwebuike tallied 115 tackles, 13.5 TFLs, 7 sacks, 17 QB pressures, 3 PBUs, 3 forced fumbles, 2 INTs, and a fumble recovery.

Igwebuike possesses an elite frame, which helps contribute to his success as a potent run-stopper. Additionally, the explosive LB offers valuable sideline-to-sideline speed. He projects as an inside backer who offers the versatility to occasionally rush off the edge.Â
Notre Dame’s 2027 class now stands at 22 commitments, with Igwebuike’s announcement giving the Irish their first LB. Igwebuike also marks the class’s second addition from Illinois, joining DL David Folorunsho.
