Segun Alexander Commits to Notre Dame; Reclassified DL Becomes Irish

After reclassifying from 2028 to 2027, DL Segun Alexander saw his recruitment speed up, and it was Notre Dame earning his commitment today.

The 6-3, 270-pound DL chose Notre Dame over Texas A&M, Clemson, Georgia Tech, and others. Once a top-20 DL in the class of 2028, Alexander now ranks as a four-star and the #42 DL, per Rivals Industry, following his reclassification to 2027.
Alexander was raised in Ontario, Canada, before moving down south to Georgia for high school. The DL moved to Lilburn, just outside of Atlanta, where he spent two years at Providence Christian Academy. Prior to his Junior season, Alexander transferred to Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School in Northeast Georgia.
The DL dominated in his first season at Rabun Gap-Nacoochee, totaling 36 tackles, 18 TFLs, 13 sacks, 19 QB hurries, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. Alexander caused havoc for opposing QBs week in and week out, tallying five games with at least two sacks.
Alexander truly has a limitless ceiling with his elite pass-rushing bag. He is powerful, but has shown he can get past linemen with more than just this pure strength. While Alexander projects as an interior defender in college, he does offer the versatility to rush off the edge when the situation is presented.
Notre Dame’s 2027 class now stands at 20 commits, including six listed DL, following today’s pledge. Alexander’s commitment also marks the first of the class out of Georgia for the Irish staff.
