In a one-week span back in late September, the Irish received four four-star commitments to round out the class. This fifth-ranked class ranks second in the ACC, trailing Duke. We look at the incoming class and what they can offer in an Irish uniform:

Jalen Haralson

Undoubtedly, the headliner of this class is the 6-7 SF from La Porte, who attended basketball powerhouse La Lumiere. The high four-star and 18th overall player in the class was named a McDonald’s All-American this year. Haralson was the second member of this class and chose the Irish over Indiana and Michigan State.

On the court, Haralson can do it all. He is athletic, physical, and at his best with the ball in his hands. The Indiana native is a plus defender with his long wingspan. Given his natural ability, if Haralson has a strong freshman campaign, he could hear his name called in next year’s NBA Draft.

Ryder Frost

The second-highest rated recruit in the class is the New Hampshire native, a four-star and 98th overall player in the country. The 6-6 SF committed to Notre Dame over Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin, and others just two days after Haralson.

Frost is an elite shooter and one of the best in the country. He has flashed a good passing game as well. His off-ball offense and general defense will need some developing, however, he has the body to eventually become a defensive force.

Tommy Ahneman

Shrewsberry secured his big man with the commitment of this 6-10 body. Ahneman is a four-star and the 113th overall player in the country, including the number one player in Minnesota. The North Dakota native committed to Notre Dame three days after Frost, selecting the Irish over Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.

Ahneman immediately brings a needed post presence on both sides of the ball to South Bend. Offensively, he is a good and crafty finisher at the rim, but he will not stretch the floor. He also has flashed good court vision for a big. Improved mobility will be key to Ahneman’s development.

Brady Koehler

The first commit of this class was the athletic 6-8 PF from Indianapolis who attended Cathedral. Koehler ranks as a four-star and the 120th overall player in the country. He committed to the Irish on September 23 over Iowa, Northwestern, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest.

Koehler is as athletic as they come and is also a smart player. He is a great defender featuring shot-blocking capabilities. On offense, he likes to play above the rim and is a good finisher. He has also shown flashes as a shooter. Overall, the offensive game can use some development due to a thin frame, but this should come naturally, especially with the recent hire of Jon Sanderson, the Irish’s new strength and conditioning coach who is highly regarded around the country.
